The majority of the sounds I recorded during drift 1 were of me plucking/banging/manipulating different things to produce a sound. So when I stumped across the home with window chimes (and birds, specifically the Wood Pecker) I was very excited. Finally I found something (other than traffic) that was producing a sound I was not actually making.
Technically it was after my drift 1 walk but.. I was coming home late one night and happened to notice the melting ice on the gutters. It's something I would have noticed but quickly ignored. Instead I went inside and grabbed the miniDV to capture the sound. I must have captured 20-30 minutes of the quickly dripping water. It was very peaceful listening to the largely amplified sound it made through the headphones. Now I'm much more aware of everyday sounds and will stop and listen.
